How useful are guides and notes ?

 Q. It has been observed that school and college students rely more on coaching centres and ‘Notes’ available in the market while school teaching and textbooks are becoming secondary.
Write an article in about 200 words on How useful are guides and notes?

The Utility of Guides and Notes: A Double-Edged Sword
By: Vidya/Vinod

In today’s competitive academic landscape, students are increasingly turning to coaching centers and market-available notes, often relegating school teaching and textbooks to a secondary role. While these resources can provide valuable supplementary learning, their overuse can also lead to certain drawbacks.

One of the primary benefits of guides and notes is their ability to offer focused and concise explanations of complex topics. They can break down difficult concepts into more digestible chunks, making it easier for students to understand and retain information. Additionally, these resources often include practice questions and exercises that can help students solidify their understanding and prepare for exams.

However, excessive reliance on guides and notes can have negative consequences. When students become overly dependent on these external resources, they may neglect to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They may also struggle to apply their knowledge in unfamiliar contexts, as guides and notes often provide a narrow and structured approach to learning. Furthermore, the quality of guides and notes can vary widely, and some may contain inaccuracies or outdated information.

In conclusion, while guides and notes can be helpful tools for students, it is important to use them judiciously. They should be seen as supplementary resources rather than primary sources of learning. By striking a balance between external resources and traditional classroom instruction, students can maximize their academic potential and develop the skills necessary for success.

• Relegate: to put someone or something into a lower or less important rank or position.

how a post-office looks and works

 Q. Given below is the picture of a typical post office. Based on the picture and your own knowledge of post office, write an article describing how a post-office looks and works. Give title to your article. You are Deepanshu/Deepansha.

Title: "Inside a Post Office: A Hub of Communication and Connection"
By: Deepanshu

The post office is a vital part of our everyday lives, serving as a hub of communication and connection between people, businesses, and communities. With its iconic red and white sign, it is a familiar sight in most neighborhoods, offering a range of services that facilitate the exchange of letters, packages, and parcels around the world.

As you step inside a post office, you are greeted with the hustle and bustle of people coming and going, a constant flow of activity that reflects the importance of this institution. The interior is typically divided into different sections, each serving a specific purpose. The first thing that catches your eye is the long row of counters, where friendly postal workers stand ready to assist customers with their postal needs. The most common service offered by a post office is, of course, mailing letters and packages. You can purchase stamps in various denominations, as well as envelopes, postcards, and other mailing supplies. The postal worker will weigh your item and determine the postage cost based on its weight, size, and destination. You can also opt for additional services such as registered mail, certified mail, or priority mail for faster delivery.

In addition to traditional mail services, post offices also offer a range of other services. You can pay bills, buy money orders, and even apply for a passport at some post offices. Many also have postal banking services, allowing customers to deposit or withdraw money, pay bills, and purchase savings bonds. This makes the post office a one-stop-shop for various needs, making it a convenient and essential part of our daily lives. One of the most fascinating areas of a post office is the sorting room, where hundreds of letters and packages are sorted and organized for delivery. The process is highly efficient, with the use of advanced technology and a dedicated team of workers. The sorting machines can read addresses and sort mail at a rapid pace, ensuring that your letter or package reaches its destination in a timely manner. The post office is not just a place for sending and receiving mail; it is also a center for community engagement and connection. Many post offices host community events and provide meeting spaces for local organizations. They also offer a variety of stamps and commemorative items, making them a popular destination for collectors and enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the post office is much more than a building; it is a symbol of communication and connection. It serves as a lifeline for people who are separated by distance, connecting them through the exchange of letters and packages. Next time you visit a post office, take a moment to appreciate its significance and the hardworking individuals who keep this vital institution running.

Man Aloof From Nature

 Q. You are Monisha/Kamal. You feel that the modern man is totally cut off from nature. This has made him unhappy and dissatisfied with whatever he has in life. Write an article in 150-200 words.

Man Aloof From Nature
By: Monisha

“If you can see the winds rustle If you can hear the leaves sing There is no pain in the world That can touch you or cling”

Yes, there are more lessons to learn from nature than we have ever imagined learning from books. With the advancement of Science and Technology, man is now under the control of electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, i-pods, social networking sites, etc., which results in cutting him off from nature. The first thing in the morning people do is to check their phone, and the last thing on their mind is the incessant flow of reels with all the negative news and other content.

This is why everyone looks so pale and depressed. If the wee hours are spent in gardens and a few moments are given to meditation/chanting before sleep, the quality of human life can be transformed drastically.

Today, man, despite having every imaginable luxury, is dissatisfied with what he has in his life. In the rat race to earn more and more, he has begun to destroy nature. Disasters such as flood, earthquake, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc., are all the results of man's increased interference with nature. Additionally, we frequently heard the news of attacking wild animals in public and harming them. What is this all about? Simply, the outcome of man's selfish actions; we are clearing forests and using the land for constructing colonies. Due to this, animals are entering towns or cities. (Recent incidents of wolves killing villagers in UP) Moreover, in order to earn more and to fulfill his needs and wants, he is under stress, busy with his job. He has no time to explore nature. Man is ‘the salt gatherer’ Keats refers to in his poem ‘A Thing of Beauty.…’; who destroys health in search of material gain and then tries to restore that health with the wealth earned.

It is high time; we must connect more to nature and take steps to protect it in order to live a happy and satisfied life.

What will happen if creatures from other planets suddenly decide to attack the earth?

 Q. There are reports that creatures from other planets use the moon as a transit base on their way to the earth. What will happen if they suddenly decide to attack the earth? Write a speech on the scenario in 150-200 words.

Respected Principal, My worthy teachers and dear friends. Today I am here to share my views on the happenings of situations when the creatures from other planets decide to attack the Earth.

Times flies on wings. Due to the advancement in Science and technology, astronauts has experimented to land on the surface of moon. The reports say that some creatures of the other planets use the moon as a way to our planet, The Earth. But have you ever thought if these creatures suddenly decide to attack the earth ?

The outcome will be unimaginable. There may be two chances. That one will be that people of Earth will get scared and second people will scare those creatures. There may be destructions by those creatures as they are not familiar with our resources. We both will not understandable to each other. Due to which there will be chaos and atmosphere of fear and tension among both sides. Both endeavours to save their lives.

We, humans of earth think that they are advanced in weapons, may harm anybody. We are not understanding the languages of each other and the fear of being attacked by them. We even don't know how they attack us or What they will do after landing on our planet.

So, the need to hour is that we should be proactive (prepared in advance) for any uncertainty arising due to this type of situation. Govt. and astronauts should think about this situation. We should wake from eternal sleep and join our hands for the sake of the planet. Otherwise our planet will be on the verge of extinction one day.

Thank you.

CBSEGuess AI: Ladies and gentlemen, We are gathered here today to discuss a scenario that has been circulating in various reports and theories - the possibility of an extraterrestrial attack on Earth.

According to these reports, creatures from other planets are using the moon as a transit base on their way to our planet. And if they suddenly decide to attack us, the consequences could be catastrophic. The idea of an alien invasion may seem like something out of a science fiction movie, but we cannot ignore the evidence and theories that suggest otherwise. Our planet is teeming with life, and it is not far-fetched to believe that there may be other forms of life out there in the vast universe. And if these creatures have the technology and capability to travel to our planet, it is only logical to assume that they may have hostile intentions. Imagine waking up one morning to find that our cities are under attack by advanced alien technology. Our weapons and defenses would be no match for their advanced weaponry. Our world as we know it would be turned upside down in a matter of hours. The chaos and destruction that would follow would be unprecedented.

But it's not too late to prepare for such a scenario. We must come together as a united global community and take proactive measures to protect ourselves. This includes investing in advanced technology, educating ourselves about potential threats, and establishing communication with other countries to form a united front against any potential attack. Moreover, we must also strive for peaceful coexistence with any potential extraterrestrial beings. We cannot assume that all aliens will have hostile intentions towards us. We must approach any potential encounter with an open mind and a willingness to communicate and understand.

In conclusion, the possibility of an extraterrestrial attack may seem like a far-fetched idea, but it is not something we can afford to ignore. Let us take this as a wake-up call to come together and prepare for any potential threats. We must be vigilant, proactive, and always ready to defend ourselves.

Thank you.

Save and Protect our planet earth

Q. It is very important to take significant actions to save our planet. Write an article in about 120-150 words for your school magazine on how can we save and protect our planet. You are Akshay/Akshita of Graham Public School, Indore.

Save the planet, Earth
-By Akshita

This is a cause of complete concern across the globe today. The global warming has accelerated the rise of temperature on Earth which is said to have risen by 40°C. The sea level also rising. The glaciers are also melting away resulting in massive floods causing huge losses. On the other hand there has been very less rainfall in the recent years resulting in the scarcity of food around the world. The death rate due to starvation has increased immensely. We human beings are solely responsible for bringing this calamity upon us. We pollute our planet in many ways. Deforestation, industrial pollution, toxic wastes, vehicular pollution and lack of greenery are the chief causes of imbalance in the ecosystem.

The urgent need of the hour is that each one of us take steps to save the planet in every possible way. We should protect our forests, save fuel, plant trees, take care of toxic pollutants, conserve water and change our life style.

Awareness programmes must be launched by the students and NGOs to make people aware of environmental problems. The public should avoid the use of polythene bags. All of us must strive hard to save our beautiful planet for the future generations.

Youth Catching western life

 Q. The youth of India is fast catching up with the way of western-life thus leaving behind the values that we once took great pride in. Write a short speech in 200 words to be delivered in the school assembly.

Good Morning respected Principal Sir, teachers and my dear friends

These days the young generation is blindly aping the western culture. Even though our culture is very deep rooted, our present modern youth are very much influenced by westernisation. They find our culture to be very traditional.

The attitude, dialect and behaviour have been altered by the western culture little knowing that our culture is our identity. Our young generation is unaware  about our rich cultural heritage.
I think the education system,  has to be blamed as from the early childhood days children were not   aware about  the customs, traditions existing in our country, which ciuld have  been possible  through various documentries, books which definitely would have enlightened them about this vast country and its greatness.

I would like to state here that aping the western culture is not completely bad but one must know where to draw a line.

At the end i would like to state that one has to be proud of the culture of which we are a part of. It has been observed that many westerners have adopted Indias rich cultural heritage and have adopted Yoga and meditation. They too have accepted the teachings of our saint.

At the end I would conclude by saying  that one must accept the goodness in each culture and forego the harmful effects of every culture.

Thank you

Letter to editor on ways to control anger

The Editor
The Times of India
New Delhi

Sir,

Subject: ways to control anger

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent spate of violence and destruction witnessed across the nation in the name of protest. The burning of shops, buses, and other public property, coupled with the blatant disregard for law and order, is a grave threat to our society.

While I understand the genuine concerns of the Jaat community regarding reservations, resorting to violence and destruction is a counterproductive and dangerous path. The Constitution of India undoubtedly guarantees the right to peaceful protest, but it does not extend to the destruction of public property or the intimidation of law-abiding citizens.

The actions of these protesters are not only damaging to our economy but also eroding the very fabric of our democracy. It sets a dangerous precedent where any group can resort to violence to achieve their demands, undermining the rule of law and the peaceful resolution of differences.

I urge the government to take decisive action to restore law and order and bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice. It is essential to address the legitimate concerns of the Jaat community through dialogue and negotiation, rather than resorting to violence and destruction.

Let us work together to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and respect for the law, and ensure that our nation continues to be a beacon of democracy and progress.

Yours Sincerely
Sarika.

Elections are the backbone of democracy

 Q. Elections are very important for the survival of democracy in a state. Write an article on ‘Elections are the backbone of democracy’ in about 150-200 words.

ELECTIONS ARE THE BACKBONE OF DEMOCRACY.
BY: ABC

India is the largest democracy in the world.  Elections take place in India at  regular intervals to choose state and centre government. This is the beauty of a democracy that through the election  mechanism, people can choose their representatives at and change them if they wish to do so.

In any democracy, elections is the base on which a country has to make balance and work as per the leader they choose. Elections form the base or foundation of democracy. It means democratic government is based on elections of the public or nominations. It is conducted for the smooth functioning of the economy. The various cabinet ministers, ministers of state, and various other ministers are selected by the way of elections.

Unfortunately,  at times people select unworthy inappropriate persons as their leaders as they are either influenced by money or any other form of bribe like liquor,  grain etc. Sometimes they cast their votes in the name caste or community or at times political parties with criminal mind set threaten them to vote in their favour.

In the end, it can be said that elections are the backbone of democracy. EC must ensure no unfair practices are used during election and people must also vote without prejudice,  selecting the best candidates that can take the nation towards progress and growth. Afterall, we are if the nation is.

I.
DEADLY ROADS
BY- Gautam

1.5 lakh people every year lose their lives on roads and that is data for India only. The number in the whole world is far bigger and alarming. Even pedestrians are not safe. Many are crushed by the reckless drivers who feel themselves entitled to use the roads the way they want. Careless driving is a common feature on our roads, leading to tragic accidents that claim precious lives. The recent incident occurred in Sector 27, where a teenage boy lost his life.

The government has done its duty by announcing compensation money. But can money really compensate loss of a life. No, never, the irresponsible drivers must be punished strictly before more innocent lives are lost on roads. One crucial step is to totally prohibit minors from driving. They often lack the maturity and experience necessary to handle vehicles safely.

It is the prime duty of the authority to ensure that all road users follow traffic rules diligently, wear helmets and seat belts. It can significantly reduce severity of injuries in accidents. Driving rashly, playing on roads, encroaching on road space, and driving under the influence of alcohol or using mobile must be strictly avoided.

Schools, colleges, and community organizations can play a significant role in conducting workshops and campaigns to educate people about road safety and promote responsible driving practices.

By implementing these measures, we can make our roads safer. It is time to prioritize road safety and ensure that every journey is a safe one.

II.
The Menace of Reckless Driving: Let’s Put an End to It
By: Gautam

Reckless driving has become a common feature on our roads, resulting in the loss of precious lives every day. The recent news of a teenaged boy losing his life in an accident is just one of the many unfortunate incidents caused by reckless driving. It is high time that we take a stand against this evil and work towards making our roads safer for everyone.

One of the major causes of reckless driving is minors getting behind the wheel. It is important for parents and guardians to educate their children about the dangers of driving without a license and to refrain from allowing them to drive until they are of legal age. Moreover, those who are guilty of reckless driving should be punished severely to set an example for others. Another factor contributing to reckless driving is the disregard for traffic rules. It is crucial for all drivers to obey traffic signals, wear helmets, and seat belts while driving. They must also avoid driving rashly, playing on the roads, encroaching roads, and most importantly, not drink and drive. These small actions can go a long way in preventing accidents and saving lives.

Additionally, there is a need to create awareness and educate people about road safety. This can be done through campaigns, workshops, and seminars. Schools can also play a vital role in educating students about road safety and the consequences of reckless driving. Moreover, it is the responsibility of the police authorities to be more vigilant and take strict action against those who violate traffic rules. They must also ensure proper road infrastructure and maintenance to prevent accidents caused by poor road conditions.

In conclusion, reckless driving is a serious issue that needs to be addressed urgently. It is our responsibility as citizens to follow traffic rules and encourage others to do the same. Let’s work together to make our roads safer and put an end to the menace of reckless driving. Remember, a small act of caution can save a life.

why we lack civic sense

 Q. Last week as you were coming back from school you happened to see a huge plastic bag full of leftovers of food being flung into the middle of the road from a speeding car. Write an article in 125-150 words on why we lack civic sense and how civic sense can be inculcated in children at a very young age.

I. Littering: A Growing Concern
By: ABC

Last week, while returning from school, I witnessed a disheartening sight. A speeding car carelessly tossed a huge plastic bag filled with leftover food right into the middle of the road. This incident made me ponder about the lack of civic sense among people.

Littering is a prevalent issue in our society. People seem to have no qualms about discarding waste wherever they please, without considering the consequences for the environment and community. This disregard for cleanliness and public spaces reflects a growing apathy towards our surroundings.

Inculcating civic sense in children from a young age is crucial to address this problem. Parents and educators can play a vital role in teaching children about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and tidy. By organizing clean-up drives, explaining the harmful effects of littering, and setting a positive example, we can foster a sense of responsibility and respect for public spaces in the younger generation.

Moreover, schools can incorporate environmental education into their curriculum, emphasizing the significance of preserving our planet. By promoting awareness and encouraging active participation in environmental initiatives, we can empower children to become responsible citizens who contribute to a cleaner and healthier community.

II. Civic Sense: A Necessity for a Better Society.
By:

As I was walking back from school last week, I witnessed an incident that left me appalled and disappointed. A huge plastic bag filled with leftovers of food was carelessly thrown out of a speeding car, right in the middle of the road. It was a blatant display of a lack of civic sense, and it made me wonder why such behavior is still prevalent in our society. Civic sense is the basic understanding of one’s responsibilities towards society and the environment. It includes simple acts like respecting public property, following traffic rules, and keeping our surroundings clean. Sadly, many of us seem to lack this sense of duty, and it reflects in our actions.

One of the main reasons for this lack of civic sense is the absence of proper education and awareness. Children are not taught about the importance of civic sense at a young age, and as they grow up, they tend to adopt the behavior they see around them. Parents and teachers play a crucial role in instilling civic sense in children. They can start by setting a good example themselves and teaching children about their responsibilities towards society. Another factor contributing to this problem is the lack of consequences for such actions. People often get away with littering, breaking traffic rules, and other similar acts without facing any repercussions. This only encourages them to continue with such irresponsible behaviour.

It is essential to understand that civic sense is not just about following rules; it is about having a sense of ownership and responsibility towards our society. We must realize that our actions have a direct impact on the environment and the people around us. It is our duty to preserve and protect our surroundings for the present and future generations.

In conclusion, it is high time we start taking our civic responsibilities seriously. We need to educate ourselves and our children about the importance of civic sense and lead by example. Only then can we hope for a better and more responsible society. As the famous saying goes, “Charity begins at home,” let us start by inculcating civic sense in our homes and spread it to the rest of the world.

why we lack civic sense and how civic sense can be inculcated in children at a very young age.
